Around 76 million people is calculated to be part of this generational group known as baby boomers, for those who were born between 1946 and 1953 in the United States.
A 5% of baby boomers have showed their interest to come to reside to Mexico. From about 100 million tourists who visit the country 75% of them they come from the United States. Foreign, American or more and more Canadian, they want to reside in Mexico in the tourist zones that offer the possibility of taking a calm life. The real estate market is being significantly influenced by Baby Boomers. With mortgages paid-off and the substantial increase in property values over the years, their home is one of their most valuable assets. Those Baby Boomers who have been diligent savers and investors throughout their lives also have nest eggs delivering a regular income. Many are electing to ‘down-size’ to smaller houses, as part of a plan to purchase a home abroad or purchase a smaller house in their home country and acquire a second home abroad.
